Simply Miami Pop-Up Event

Hello Friends!

Welcome to my part II of my Miami adventures. So besides visiting the Miami Design District which you probably saw in my last post. I also traveled to Miami for the first Simply Stylist pop-up event with Coppertone. I am also writing this blog in Spanish, find translation at the bottom.

I have been a Simply Stylist follower for a while. Before I was a blogger while I was in design school. I attended one of their conferences which are held at the Grove in LA, and it was so helpful. I learned about fashion blogging, networking, styling and tips on social media. They are having a great conference coming up this summer so I highly recommend you go ahead check it out.

The event was held at the Eden Rock Miami Beach Resort. When I arrived the first thing I saw was this beautiful wall created with numerous flowers. Whoever created this wall did a great job. This was THE place to take the pics and showcase the product as well.

There were three different stations. The first one was Coppertone which was the major sponsor on this event. There were two aestheticians who took a look at my skin and told me I needed a little bit of more sun. Yeah I don’t get much sun but they shared with me a couple of tips on how to take care of my skin.

Their new clearly sheer whipped sunscreen goes on your skin smoothly and absorbs quickly.  It helps your skin to feel smooth and not heavy,  water resistant, UVA/UVB protection and wont’t clog your pores. It’s so smooth and easy to use. Stella the aesthetician taught me to use it before putting on my foundation and through out the day I applied that way I wouldn’t get sun burn since it was such a hot day.

I highly recommend that you guys use this product. You don’t want to get skin cancer or damage your skin in any type of way, specially since summer is around the corner. For more info check out  www.coppertone.com .

[ Habian tres diferentes secciones.

There were other stations, the other one was reading of the lipstick. It was a small consultation and they would advice you what colors to wear and how to take care of your lips. The last one was all about nail care. They had great products from this company LVX which are products vegan & cruelty free. Very smooth, creamy and long lasting . Currently wearing their nail polish and it’s so nice.

The stations were decorated so pretty. They had intax Mini polaroid cameras so us influencers & bloggers can take photos. There were cupcakes, water, champagne,  popsicles a variety of delicious snacks throughout the event.

[ Las estaciones estaban decoradas muy bonitas. Tenian camaras intax para tomar fotos. Habia agua, champaña, pastelitos, paletas y otros pasabocas.]

I met many influencers and bloggers. Women that have great sense of style and have a heart for this industry. No competition but support only. I felt like I knew these women for a while and can’t wait to colab with them in the future. There were other major bloggers I met that I admire so much, Kelly Sacks and Angela Cruz. It was nice to meet Brandi Cyrus and see Sarah Pollack Boyd who is the founder of Simply Stylist. I had met her in LA back in my first conference. Women who are making a difference in the industry and inspire me so much.

Sunglasses Trend

Hey Friends!

Happy Tuesday! another week to be productive, get things done and live your life. Also have you guys seen all the awesome sunglasses that are  trending?

OMG! so many retro, round, big styles that celebrities, influencers and other peeps  are wearing now a days. I feel like every time I’m on Instagram or Pinterest I run into a post of someone wearing some great shades.

1

My metallic pair of fave sunnies ran out of time, R.IP! So I started doing my research for some new ones and on Pinterest I  found an awesome and affordable company of sunnies called ZeroUV .

IMG_0120

I found some great sunglasses! Great for both men and women. I liked the presentation of their website and all their social media channels. When I subscribed to their mailing list they sent me a coupon to use for my first purchase.

Keeping it real I was a bit afraid of purchasing my sunnies online. I usually get them from local boutiques or random shopping adventures but after seeing all their great reviews, I took the leap and BAM!! done deal.

IMG_0122

I found this retro hippie oversized round ones. They are so cool, and I really wanted a piece that made a statement. I have worn them a couple of times and have gotten great responses.

ZeroUV is very legit, by the way this post is not sponsored by them. I’m just sharing my experience with them and recent sunglasses trends. They are very professional, the package arrived on time and secured. The glasses arrived in a small box, wrapped very carefully in a plastic bag and it came with the microfiber bag to keep them safe and clean.

Here are some of my looks with my new retro sunnies!

The cool thing is that I can wear them with anything ❤

Shopping Tips

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Happy April Friends!

I can’t believe how time is flying, I apologize for being so absent. It’s been a crazy past couple of months, but I am back and committed to blog more. So let’s get straight to the point.

Last weekend I decided to go on a small shopping spree. Before I went on this journey because you know it’s going to be an interesting journey dealing with so much when it comes to shopping. I did a couple of things to make sure I survived and stayed on track, I wanted to share with you guys my tips so next time when you go shopping you can have a great experience.

  1.  What I did was I organized my closet and got rid of things that I didn’t need. Then I made a list of items that I thought that were necessary.  Like basic shirts and jeans which is what I use mostly.  This is helpful because I honestly didn’t want to get items that I didn’t really need and of course trying to stay on budget.

kathysblog-2jpeg1-e1492223432750.jpg

2. I did research on what stores near me where offering deals, I planned on going to local boutiques and I wanted to see what specials and deals were going on.

3. After doing some online research, I created a budget. I had $200.00 to spend and I didn’t want to go over. Creating a budget helps you to stay focus, also bringing cash too.!

4.  Going to big department stores really overwhelmed me and gives me anxiety, so I go to small local boutiques that have good quality items. If you get a little anxious and feel weird in big stores just find small local ones that way you can focus more and enjoy your shopping experience.

5. Once you have try an item I advice you to check for the following:

Quality

Hand of fabric

Lining

Facings

Wrinkles

Buttons

Loose Thread

color & texture

I advice you to ALWAYS  check this because items can be damaged or get damaged later on. Also If you really like the item you are purchasing, speak to the sales associate and they might give you a 10% discount.

KathysBlog-3JPEG

6. During the week stores are usually empty and more relaxed. Weekends are very hectic due to most of the people being off and trying to go shopping. If you do go on the weekends, make sure you eat a good breakfast or lunch and drink plenty of water.

7. Focus on Quality over Quantity. unfortunately some people think that buying items for less is the way to save but honestly is not. Being able to work in the fashion industry has really opened my eyes to the process of fashion which I will definitely share more about it on another blog post. Please INVEST in quality pieces that you can wear a couple of times trust me you will save money.

KathysBlog-3JPEG

8. Online shopping it’s a very smart, comfortable and easy.  You can find tons of deals online and sometimes even free shipping. Just make sure that whichever website you are using it’s safe. Sometimes certain sites can hack your information, if you don’t feel safe using your debit card, use a credit card, gift card or pay pal.

I hope you guys find these tips helpful. I wanted to do something different and I created these illustrations using Prismacolor markers and cleaning them a little bit on Photoshop. Let me know if you have any other tips on shopping, I would like to learn more too.

Have a great Easter weekend !

XOXO

Pretty..Pretty Things!

Hey Friends!

It’s been a pretty month, and when I mean pretty I mean lots of pretty things going around this season like the changes of leaves, the weather, and what everyone is wearing for fall. I like pretty things, example jewelry. Due to all the changes and moving around I can’t really have a lot of things because I gotta give them away or sell them so I try to keep it simple, I know one day I will have a place where I can feel stable and set ground, but as for right now I’ll just go with the flow.

About a month ago, I became a Rocksbox influencer! so what is it? you might be asking, it’s a service where you get really nice rental jewelry from top designer brands monthly for $19.00 a month, once you create your account online and pick different pieces under your wishlist, a stylist gets three pieces and you get them in the mail. If you like the jewelry you can buy if not, you can just return it and get another new box. I think it’s a great service because you can wear the jewelry and not have to worry about spending to much on pieces you don’t wear a lot.  I just got my second box and I really like all the pieces,  so if you are interested on joining this awesome movement and get pretty accessories, I will be adding a promo code at the end that way you can  get your first month for FREE!! yeah for FREE on me!

ROCKSBOX

So you know I had to get creative and illustrate these pieces, you get a cute dark blue box with a pretty ribbon, and when you open it you have an intro note with your name, explanation of the pieces you are getting and how to take care of them.

blog-2

Every piece comes in a small bag that way it stays safe, and you won’t loose it. You also get a little card with a quote which you can post it  and share with friends. This is the KENDRA SCOTT ELEANOR  necklace in black mother of pearl, I love the simplicity of it, and how it makes a statement, very easy and wearable piece.

blog-1

Yes for those 90’s hair buns if you are rocking them, I love to wear my hair like this because it’s so fun, and I get so many stares is funny. The piece I am wearing in this illustration is a SLATE beyond the horizon necklace in silver. It’s such a cool necklace, and kinda abstract, I wore it to a party and people loved it!

blog-5

I honestly don’t do a lot of accessories on my wrist, I like to keep it simple but this NAKAMOL beaded leather wrap bracelet in silver & cream is a great piece to make it seem like you are wearing a bunch of bangles. It’s very adjustable and an eye catcher.

blog-4

I have really enjoyed all these jewelry, and the membership  perks of it, if you want to try it out use my PROMO CODE: KBCREATIVITYXOXO and get your first month for FREE!  I hope you guys have a great week, and enjoy the pretty things in life.!

-FALLing Mood-

Hello Friends!

Week two of October and it has been going fast, at the beginning of this month I didn’t have time to really plan and organize my month due to life happening so fast, but I made sure that I sat down and plan my month ahead. I’m sure you heard or experienced that in Florida we recently had a hurricane, fortunately  nothing major happened we just lost work and certain areas lost power, but please keep Haiti in your prayers. I’m thankful that nothing happen and it’s a great reminder to not take things for granted and to love those around you.

Even though is the second week of October, is never too late to plan out your month, or write your monthly goals. So when I can I like to create a mood board that helps me to have my goals for the month, and inspiration for my creative projects. I like to look up Pinterest, Instagram and also just search through different sites like style caster and fashionista.  I like to gather all the images and organize them in categories, sometimes I create the boards on my iPad using the app pic collage, or just print the images and actually create an actual board.  So it’s never to late to plan out your monthly goals, or create  a visual that can help you stay organized and motivated, if you can; do it and have fun!.

image

LIFESTYLE: I like to place photos of images that motivate me to read more, like a book or the bible besides my devotionals. To take more time for myself  by doing something that I like, drinking coffee, hanging out with friends or going to a random solo adventure. This month I want to start running every morning and I want to find a recipe which I have never done and make it so stay tune.

image

FASHION:  Boots and jackets season is here, but let’s not forget that we can still wear certain things specially if you live in a warm weather city. I  found some of the most cool looks and items for this fall so I can re-create them with what I have in my closet.

image

BEAUTY & HAIR: I am honestly a rookie when it comes to make up, but I like to get ideas from YouTube or Pinterest to do a smokey eye or get that right lip color. I also like to style, color and cut my hair different when a new season begins. I am transitioning into a lighter hair color so I like to look at different ideas.

imageNAILS: Who doesn’t love nails? This month I would love to try a new color and wouldn’t mind designs. Love this soft colors that I found.

image

ART: I am working on a lot of creative projects and I like to have a visual of things that inspire me to create. I love the illustrations from other artist because of their style, also a lot of this pieces of work include the Pantone colors that are trending this year.

I hope you guys enjoyed my fall mood boards, now go make one! ❤

A chic front row weekend!

Hey Friends!

I hope you guys had a great week, I know it was a busy one, so many things happening around and if you were involve in any fashion week events I feel you, there was a lot happening. This past weekend I had the pleasure to attend two major events in my hometown, and I was able to meet some great people and do what I love. I had some moments where I couldn’t believe what was happening, God knows how hard this season has been for me. From struggling with finances, feeling rejected from left to right, losing friends, and other challenges. He reminds me how important I am, how talented, how my gifts and talents can be use to bless others. So if you are dealing with something major in your life right now, know that you will get through this, and God always makes a way.img_7137-2

So Friday I was able to attend the Macy’s front row event, they pretty much had one around the country  I believe,  and had multiple of fashion icons host this event. Joe Zee who is the editor in chief of Yahoo style, and if you google him his resume is amazing, was the host of the event I attended in Orlando, FL. The first time I saw Joe in person was when I was shopping at Topshop at the Grove in LA. I got to the event right on time and my friend Laila grabbed me by the arm and said, “common Kathy we are meeting and taking pictures with Joe”!  I wish you guys could see my face, I was literally rushed but it was so much fun. Joe was so nice to everyone in the room, it was all bloggers, he said we looked very stylish and took pictures even selfies.

macys-front-row-3

  • I wore a forever 21 leather jacket, Mossimo abstract dress, Christian Siriano magenta pumps which you can see on other pictures, and mixed jewelry from Rocksbox and other brands.

I also made some new friends, these are some of the VIP bloggers that attended the event.

macys-front-row-2

Here are some of the looks that walked the runway, it was so much fun because I was sitting front row with all my new friends, and we were able to see everything so close and of course snap our lives away.

macys-front-rowmacys-front-row-6mfr-5img_7111macys-front-row-8img_7083img_7087

After the fun runway that we got to watch, we were given some goodies. We had some great complimentary drinks, a cotton candy station, and also a photo station to take pictures and take them home. macys-front-row-4

We were able to walk around and shop, everyone received a complimentary goodie bag with some coupons and other goodies. I wanted to look at the Iris Apfel Inc collection, the clothing was so funky, and hip. It took me to the seventies, and let’s not forget about the chunky jewelry, pieces that can really make a statement and out of my box. I bought two pieces which I will talk about in my next blog post.

img_7143-2Here are some of the other bloggers that I met, they were so nice and humble.macys-front-row-7

I was able to meet Melanie Pace (bottom left), she is a fashion expert. I have seen her work before, but on this night we were able to meet, and mingle for a little bit. I look forward to working with her and (bottom right) it’s blogger Laila who is a friend of mine, and my mentor in this new blogging venture;  I honestly admire both of this ladies so much.

img_7145

The Next day, which was Saturday it was time to work. My friend Melrose from Chic Conviction which is a team of two bloggers that inspire other women with their personal stories, style, and social media platforms. They had an event at a local boutique, and I was invited to be their fashion illustrator.

img_7173img_7191

I Illustrated some of the guest that came into the event, some of them didn’t know what a fashion illustrator was, which I was very surprised because illustration is a big part of the fashion industry. I met some great people, made new friends, they all shared their passions with me, and it was such a blessing. In this picture is my new friend Andrea, I loved her outfit & personality. She was the first one I was able to illustrate, then it was a bit overwhelming because everyone kept coming, so I took photos and while they were shopping around I finished their illustration and gave it to them later.

img_7187

This were some of the guest I illustrated as well, it was such an honor too meet like minded people and so kind hearted!

At the end of the day, we all want to make it. We have so many dreams, goals and things we want to achieve. The journey is so hard, is lonely and misunderstood sometimes, but along the way we meet great people that bring joy, support and encouragement to our lives, and throughout this crazy journey, I have learned that is not so much about me but about others. So keep dreaming big, keep being you and don’t give up because greater things are coming your way.!

Much love to you guys ❤

Fashion is about something that comes from within you ~Ralph Lauren~

Hello Friends!

I know it’s been a while, it has been so crazy the past few weeks, but I have managed to kinda keep it together. So last Thursday New York fashion week started. If you follow me on any kinda of social media, you know I been keeping  track with all the latest shows. It’s very important for me to keep up with the shows, because I am involved in the fashion industry.  It’s good to know what’s happening, what new designers are out there and also which way is fashion heading. I get a lot of ideas from watching the shows, and thank God for social media because I also get to see what people attending the shows are wearing.

This week I am illustrating all my favorite looks from the shows, I hope you enjoy my art work, and I encourage you to go and do something you love and enjoy. Don’t let the stress, challenges of life  or anything hold you from what you love doing, take a deep breath and go for it. If you also need some tips to get through  a rainy day or week, feel free to check out my YouTube channel Kreadiv Misfit. Enjoy!

misfit blog edit 1.jpg

My first favorite look from day one was from designer Michael Costello. He is best known from project runway, and has become really well known for his beautiful red carpet dresses. His dresses were amazing, I loved the looks and he used wines, forest greens and blacks for the color scheme. He also incorporated huge flower crowns that the models wore and it made it such an impact on the runway.

misfit-blog-4-edit

My second favorite look was from Nicholas K, I really enjoyed this  show.  Two siblings Christopher & Nicholas Kunz  that have created collections based on their outdoor adventures, and have created some great collections with lots of variety. Their style is very urban, minimalist and comfortable.

misfit-blog-edit-5

The next look that I loved was from Desigual,  I was watching the backstage snaps and it was so much fun because the make up artists, recreated the snapchat animal filters on some of the models and it was kinda of cool. It grabbed the viewers attention since everyone loves those snapchat filters and it made it unique. Desigual knows how to place prints together very well, they are well known for colorful designs. Every look that walked down the runway, it brought life, inspiration and a positive vibe to the atmosphere.

I will be posting more of my favorite looks this week, so stay tune! and if you want to watch any of the shows online check out New York Fashion Week : the shows .

Much love Friends ❤
